My name is Tristan Doak. I am a senior at St. Mary's College of Maryland studying Political Science. Although Political Science is my primary focus, I have a passion for business and history. The legal system and the history of it is a pillar of successful business interactions; therefore, I prioritize understanding the role it plays in the world. 

In addition to my academic achievements, I also take pride in my guiding principles. My upbringing has taught me the importance of education, the value of hard work, and the benefit of making a positive impact on the world around me.

I make sure that families follow the correct laws according to federal guidelines for financial aid. Stay up to date on new federal laws for financial aid. Use the CARS system to help students with financial aid needs. Create excel spreadsheets and work on various word documents. Pick up phone calls. Set up appointments between peer counselors and students. Greet people when they walk through the door.

Please accept this letter of recommendation for your applicant, Tristan E. Doak. I have been a member of the Maryland Bar since 1996. After I retired from the practice of law, I took a position as an adjunct professor teaching Automotive Technology at the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville (CCBC). I have been instructing students at CCBC for approximately five years. I had to opportunity and pleasure to meet, observe and instruct Tristan when he took my fast-paced Introduction to Automotive Technology course. The course is five credits and spans eight weeks. During this time, students are given intensive classroom instruction, online homework assignments, and hands-on work in the school's automotive shop. It is rare that I can say this; I would place Tristan in the top five percent of all of the students I have taught. He earned an A for his course grade. During this time, I had to opportunity to observe not only Tristan's work habit, but also his character. He arrived before the start of every class. While only a young man, Tristan quickly became a classroom leader and I observed him helping other students with their lab assignments. I noticed that when I was busy helping a classmate, other students would seek Tristan out for assistance. Students seeking Tristan's advice were sometimes 10 to 15 years older than him. Based upon Tristan's academic skills and personal character, I highly recommend him for admission.
